New mobile devices  can sometimes come with additional security features automatically enabled.  One of these found on Android devices is the Home Screen lock feature.

The Home Screen Lock function is designed to prevent the device user form accidentally moving or changing the layout or content of their devices home screen and includes deleting or adding new apps to the home screen.  This is great for people ho have children who  regularly get hold of their mobile devices as it prevents them from deleting everything!  However, it also means that you would be unable to add any new items, such as a photo app, to the home screen of the device.

So if your client is being blocked from saving their app to their android device it could well be because they have this feature turned on without realizing it!

Here is how to turn the feature off and on  so they can add their photo app to their Home Screen:

On an Android  Device:

  • Click on the settings cog and scroll to Home Screen menu
  • Click on Home Screen and scroll to the Lock home Screen layout option

  • Slide the ON/OFF button to the OFF position to unlock the Home Screen.
  • Save your  Photo App to your home screen and repeat the above steps to re-lock the home screen layout is you wish.
